CNC Turning and Threading of Pre-Hardened 4140 Steel, for a Ball Joint Assembly for the Automotive Wheel Alignment Industry

 

Here at Cosmos Enterprises, Inc., we manufacture this complete offset ball joint assembly for use in the aftermarket automotive wheel alignment industry. We machine the offset ball joint from pre-hardened 4140 material, and we use 1018 steel for the outer case. We machine the ball cup from UHMW. We use several processes, including CNC turning, rotary broaching, threading, drilling, tapping, sawing, and swaging. We maintain a tolerance range of +/- .0005 on the actual ball joint. After manufacturing is complete, a clear trivalent zinc finish is applied. After final assembly, the finished product measures 2 ¼" X 3" long, and weighs 1 ½ pounds. Each of these assemblies is packaged in a heat sealed plastic bag with instructions, boxed in our customer's supplied boxes, and shipped in a master carton.  In all, this product requires approximately 8 weeks to complete.
